Samvatsara Sambrama

Celebrating the Annual day of Nrithyakalamandarim over two days the 24th and the 25th in ADA rangamandira auditorium.

The celebration started with the little tots dancing to small stotras starting from the lord ganesha. These were the ones who were stepping on stage for the first time. They were all well dressed with tiny little smiles on their face. The moved gracefully to the song and the beats. They performed clean and neat with small little formations which made the spectators to clap immediately.

They went to the next level of seeking the blessings from the lord of knowledge saraswathi with the stotra yakundendu. Very neat and peaceful performance.

Now came even younger growing up dancers. They came in to pay tribute and also seek the blessings of the gurus Miss Bhanumathi and Mrs Sheela Chandrashekar. They were so cute to watch, every thing that they did looked cute. They were looking at each other and dancing but still it was very nice to watch. The concept of getting the photo of the gurus was a out of the box idea and i just loved that part.

Here goes the most awaited part of the day the dance drama Punya koti by the students of NKM. This recital got tears into most of our eyes. This story has a lot to depict and convey. Beautifully choreographed and conveyed. It was a direct hit to the audience. I could see Miss Bhanumathi maam eyes filled with tears by the time this ended.

In this act Preethi Bharadwaj, who was disguised as a tiger did a wonderful job. It was so realistic that it looked like a real trained tiger has been brought on stage. The highlight of this item was when the lion jumps of a cliff and kills itself. This part was depicted as  a shadow act and lots of thoughts, efforts have been put into it which was a great success with few audience going "WOW".

Moving to the folk dances from the classical there were few girls who presented the folk dance of panjab the bhangara. The choreography was well done but there was no enough energy and josh put into it. The dance lacked of energy and that spark.
But they had wonderful and colourful costumes and few steps that covered up the lack of energy and made it look good. I must say "the choreo saved the girls"

The next was the kargaattam where they carried pots on their heads, which is a little too complicated for kids of this age. But they did lead tot he expectation. They did a brilliant job in this item. There was one girls who's prop was falling off but she managed it so well and continued dancing, this was the part i loved a lot.

The next few presentations was definitely something to speak about. It was the performances by the Married woman. Its because of such peoples undying dedication that the dance form is still alive and being spread. These woman have been and set wonderful examples for the growing and future dancers. They have proved that nothing is impossible. They have taken their time off their family, work left their children behind and come to practice and make the event a great success.

What can i tell you about these people. They were so good in everything, starting from the synchrony to expressions to energy and everything. Their postures were so graceful and neat. They shook the audience and broke the stage with their energy.
